What is an ocular prosthesis? What is its use?
An ocular prosthesis, commonly known as a prosthetic eye, is an artificial eye designed to restore the natural appearance of someone who has lost an eye due to injury, illness, or birth conditions. While it doesn’t restore vision, it plays a vital role in improving confidence, emotional well-being, and facial symmetry.

Cost Barriers
The average cost of a prosthetic eye ranges from $2,500 to $8,000, making it inaccessible for many in low-income regions.
The Untold Story
Millions live with untreated or poorly treated eye loss, yet the emotional, social, and psychological impacts often go unnoticed.
Limited Access
In countries like Indonesia, there is fewer than 1 ocularist per 1 million people, limiting access to life-changing treatment.
Our Mission
Project SeeShell's mission is to empower individuals who have lost function of their eye(s) by funding doctors in Indonesia to create and install prosthetics, while creating a supportive community that raises awareness and promotes understanding of various ocular diseases.
